Frances Mabel Seevers was born on Hastings Mesa on Sept. 3, 1925. She died on Oct. 26 in Olathe.  She was the daughter of Mary and Wilbur Smith. She lived her entire life in southwest Colorado on Hastings Mesa, in Sawpit, Montrose and Olathe. She was married to Sanford Seevers on Feb. 2, 1947, and had nine children with him.  She was a longtime and dedicated teacher in Telluride, Sawpit and Montrose.


She is survived by her children; Sandra Castle of Cory, Earl Seevers of Cortez, Velda Montgomery of Egnar, Val Chambers of Steamboat Springs, Donald Seevers of Olathe, and Susan Lasley of Montrose.  Her husband Sanford, sons Russell and Jimmy, and daughter Karen died earlier. She had 24 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.


Frances was deeply spiritual and loved her time with family. She was a family historian and wrote many short stories about her family and growing up on Hastings Mesa.  She will be missed by her large family and many friends.


Services will be at Victory Baptist Church in Montrose on Nov. 2 at 1 p.m.  Dessert and refreshments for family and friends will follow the services.  Internment will be at a later date.
