From Lisa Stidd Silver to Benjamin Andrew Stidd

Benjamin Andrew Stidd, April 12, 1972—Feb. 26, 2008

Life can be crazy sometimes. My brother Andy was one of those crazy, zany characters, one of the most unique individuals I have come across.  He was on his way out to help me (his sister), and nieces Santana, Grace and nephew Zeke relocate from Telluride to Portland, Ore.  Usually we as Telluridians share our stories of how we got here ... what called us to the mountains ... or how we just plain got stranded here somehow.  This is a story of how one individual didn’t get here.

My brother was devoted to family. If any one of his three sisters called for help, he was the man.  Family was very important to him, maybe one of the most important things in his life.  He always marched to a different drum, and I honor that in him.  He could also tick me off beyond belief because of his stubbornness.  He had a passion for the mountains and for the wide-open seas. I share both with him.

He died outside of Wichita, Kansas on his way to help me transition into our new life after living in Telluride for 17 years (who’s transitioning now?) ... hopefully clicking his red ‘sneakers’ transporting him into the realms of all his desires.

He will be so missed by his mother, Martha, father, Ray, step father, Doug, and sisters, Jaia, Karen and myself.  Also his beautiful nieces Alexandra, Jade, Sarah, Santana and Grace and gallant nephews Sage and Zeke.

I love you my brother ... Lisa Stidd Silver
Rock on ...
